the stuff between

you know that guy that is always spoiling the ending for you? "great flick, i didn't know until the very last scene that bruce willis was dead!" "schweet movie, who would have guessed brad pitt and ed norton are the same guy?" "dude, you missed the game? knicks won by 8..."

are we doing the same thing by offering to those under our care, heaven as a reward for conversion? are we skipping to the end of the story, and robbing people of the stuff between the intro and the credits? i get the feeling that salvation is not just about where we end up when we graduate from this life to the next. in the words we speak, the messages we preach, the way we live our lives, are we spoiling the ending, or does our redemption bring the kingdom of heaven to our lives today? may i live each day to its fullest, in the actualization of His kingdom here on earth.

I suppose it's that "in-between" stuff that Jesus is talking about when He says He came to give us abundant life. I think we are so confused on the whole Kingdom of God thing, and preaching salvation as fire insurance only is just wrong. Thanks for the post. Always a pleasure reading your stuff.

I understand totally! All churches usually want to do is get you SAVED, and your name on their church roll, after that it seems like your on your own. How can we develope leaders if we ourselves are not willing to lead them? How can they know what to do unless someone show them? I was recently told that my spiritual leadership was weak, why, how could that be? Well until recently I was never shown what it was to lead spiritualy, much less the steps to take to do it! I'm doing a sabbitical in which its all about God, and Him using me, growing me and molding me. There are so many people out there that have their fire insurance but don't care what their house looks like, both inside and out! Isn't it time we, and yes I said WE, do something about it! Better yet a question I ask myself daily,"What will you do for God today?, and what has He already done for you?" Just a thought to ponder!

good stuff, guys. very challenging, to the point of living my life through the power of the Christ who indwells me. there's good stuff out there that God has provided for us everyday, little glimpses of Himself in everything we see and say and do, and everyone we come in contact with. may we have ears to hear, eyes to see, etc.
